Description
Summary:Most of the existing maximal aerobic capacity prediction equations are for Caucasians only. There is still no research on the prediction equation for VO2 and VO2max specifically for healthy Indonesian adults. This study aims to obtain prediction equations for VO2 and VO2max for healthy adults in Indonesia. This research was conducted in two experimental stages. In the first stage, participants did sitting, standing and walking activities to get their oxygen consumption. In the second stage, participants carried out the maximal treadmill test protocol to get their aerobic capacity. The results of this study showed that the relative VO2 value (average ± sd) for men was 4.36 ± 2.53 and for women was 3.59 ± 1.69 ml.min- 1 .kg1 , while men's relative VO2max was 38,52±5,21 and women was 28,70±4,06 ml.min-1 .kg-1 . In addition, by using the stepwise multiple linear regression analysis method, the VO2 and VO2max prediction equations were obtained, where the relative VO2 equation was influenced by gender and age variables (adj R2 = 0,47) and the relative VO2max equation was influenced by gender, BMI and age variables (adj R2= 0,808).
