PEKALONGAN BATIK STYLE IN COMBINATION WITH THE VISUAL ADAPTATION OF KOREAN STYLE

The city of Pekalongan is known as the World’s City of Batik because the most of the economy of its people is grown by the batik industry. In its journey, the diversity of Pekalongan batik motifs received a lot of influence from various mixtures of the other cultural fusion from various countries. The influx of Korean culture through the Korean Wave phenomenon in Indonesia is the basis for designing batik with a new type of Pekalongan style in a blend of Korean Tale visual adaptations. Given that Korean dramas are the most popular Korean Wave product in Indonesia. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods by conducting observations and collecting data through questionnaires. The decorative variety of the Korean Tale visual adaptation is combined with the typical Pekalongan batik style which is famous for its diversity of motifs and colors. The purpose of this design is so that Pekalongan handmade batik can grow and develop rapidly by utilizing this phenomenon, namely by following the swift flow of the Korean wave which is increasingly worldwide. In addition, it is hoped that the existence of batik can be maintained by further advancing Pekalongan handmade batik, and by creating new types of batik that can provide many benefits and contain aesthetic and cultural values so that handmade batik is more acceptable and loved by all levels of society in the world.
