RISK ASSESSMENT AND RISK REDUCTION STRATEGY FOR OFFSHORE THREE PHASE OIL AND GAS PIPELINECASE STUDY: OFFSHORE 12 INCH PIPELINE KKNA-KLB NORTH JAVA SEA
Indonesia is one of the countries with abundant renewable energy sources (RE). However, its utilization is still very minimal, at only about 0.34%. This results in a high and continuously increasing demand for fossil fuel or oil and gas in Indonesia. Pipeline transmission is one of the extensively u...

However, its utilization is still very minimal, at only about 0.34%. This results in a high and continuously increasing demand for fossil fuel or oil and gas in Indonesia. Pipeline transmission is one of the extensively used methods for oil and gas globally, including in Indonesia, as it is considered safe and efficient. Nevertheless, pipe leaks still occur, causing losses both to companies and the surrounding community. One of the contributing factors to this issue is the lack of risk management conducted on the pipeline transmission. This final project contains a case study on risk assessment and risk mitigation strategies for an offshore pipeline. The risk assessment analysis will refer to the recommended practices of API 581 and W. Kent Muhlbauer 2015. Based on the results of the risk assessment analysis for the three segments along the pipeline, it was found that all segments did not meet the ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable) standard, necessitating risk reduction strategies. After implementing the use of a corrosion inhibitor with higher effectiveness and regularly conducting cleaning pigging processes, the risk level that complies with the ALARP standard was achieved for all segments using the recommended practice API 581 method, as well as for segments 1 and 3 using the index method. However, for segment 2 using the index method, the risk level still does not meet the ALARP standard and remains in the category of not tolerable. text |
