CHINESE CULTURE CONTENT IN CITY DESIGN AND LIYUE CHARACTER IN GENSHIN IMPACT GAME

Genshin Impact is an online Open-World RPG game launched on September 28, 2020 developed by HoYoverse. Genshin Impact is an open world game that is quite interesting because players can play with friends in the game, besides that the characters, story, city design, and visuals that are presented are quite interesting and have very good quality details and graphics. Of all these attractions, the most prominent thing about the Genshin Impact game is the detail of the characters and maps of each region representing several cultures that exist in several countries, one of which is in the design of the city and characters in Liyue which takes representations of Chinese culture. The small details of the combination of cultural representations are an attraction in themselves and can be a way to introduce culture to players. Therefore, this research will use a qualitative method in the form of Roland Barthes semiotic analysis. Deepening the analysis will be done by taking data from 2 characters and also 4 objects from the environment in the city of Liyue. With the results found that the use of Chinese cultural elements in the city and characters of Liyue has the intention to strengthen the image and depiction of the city and characters, as well as to introduce Chinese culture to a wider audience by updating the appearance of the design of the culture used, so that it is more easily accepted and can be recognized immediately. The appearance of the cultural design used takes the main formof the Chinese culture used.
