Alluvial tin refers to the mineral found in alluvial deposits or river sediments. Processing alluvial tin involves a series of steps to separate valuable minerals like tin from other materials. During this process, quartz sand accumulates as a byproduct. Quartz sand has economic value in construction, glass, ceramics, and other industries. Therefore, it is important to estimate the remaining resources of quartz sand after alluvial tin processing on Bangka Island. Resource estimation was conducted for two blocks, Block B and Block D. Geological modeling in 3D format was performed using Datamine RM software based on drilling data. Block model grade estimation was carried out using the ordinary kriging (OK) method. The cell size used in the 3D model was 25 m × 25 m × 5 m. For the OK estimation, 3D omnidirectional variogram analysis was conducted to obtain geostatistical parameters such as nugget variance, sill, and range by fitting a spherical model. The results of the OK estimation indicated that the tonnage of quartz sand resources in Block B was 15 million m3 with an average grade of 97.17%, while in Block D, it was 13.1 million m3 with an average grade of 99.11%. As a comparison, 2D resource modelling was performed using the polygon method with ArcMap software. The estimated tonnage of quartz sand resources in Block B was 12.4 million m3 with an average grade of 97.25%, and in Block D, it was 13.8 million m3 with an average grade of 99.22%. text
