X-Camp PT XL Axiata Tbk., as Southeast Asia's first IoT open laboratory affiliated with the GSMA Mobile IoT Open Lab Alliance, has the potential to capitalize on this trend. To achieve greater effectiveness and efficiency, it is crucial to enhance the project management practices in their product development initiatives. This research aims to identify the root causes behind project delays and suboptimal budget utilization at X-Camp and propose feasible improvements to address these issues. The Project Management Process Group and Knowledge Areas Analysis, as defined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge by the Project Management Institute, were employed as the framework for this study. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and analysis of historical data. Thematic analysis, using NVivo software, was conducted to identify critical knowledge areas that required further attention. Subsequently, root cause analysis was performed to pinpoint the underlying causes contributing to the identified problems. Finally, an implementation plan was devised to address these root causes. The findings highlight Project Schedule Management as one of the key knowledge areas requiring attention. Additionally, root causes such as undefined scope, limited project management skills, and others were identified. This research is expected serve as valuable input for improving project management practices at X-Camp, ultimately enhancing effectiveness and efficiency in their operations. The proposed improvements and implementation plan provide a roadmap for addressing the identified root causes and fostering positive change within the organization. text
