DEVELOPING SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGY TO OVERCOME THE LACK OF PRODUCTION CAPACITY, CASE STUDY : SANGKURIANG SITU MUKTI

Supply chain is one of the important aspect in a company because it’s relates to business process ranging from earliest chain up to the end of chain which is customer. According to Lu (2011:8), “a supply chain is basically a group of independent organization connected together through the product and service that they separately and/or jointly add value on in order to deliver them to the end consumer “. Supply chain used by a company to facilitate the distribution of goods or services from the earliest supplier to the end consumer. Every company need to manage all of the activities in supply chain, Said et all (2006:6) define if supply chain management is the concept of integrating all logistic activities ranging from the end of the earliest suppliers to the end consumers. In the freshwater fishing industry, supply chain management is needed to ensure that the production process runs smoothly and can supply goods according to market needs. But there is often a company engaged in the fishing industry cannot supply the goods in accordance with the existing demand, one inhibiting factor is due to the lack of production capacity which hampers a company to growth. In conducting this qualitative research, we use semi-structure interview to collect data. Researcher also uses purpose sampling to determine the informant. The informant will be catfish farmers in Bandung with have production capacity at least 2 tons per period. The NVivo8 was used for transcription, coding, and analysis the data gathered. The research findings show that most of the farmers has the same problem that is they has lack of production capacity so cannot supply the goods in accordance with existing demand. Further research also proves that integration principle is the most understandable variable by farmers among other orientation variable. In the last part of this research, will be show some business alternative to solve the problem of Sangkuriang Situ Mukti. Then the researcher will choose one of the business alternatives to be business solution based on several considerations that have been determined. The business solution for Sangkuriang Situ Mukti is cooperative farmer.
