Summary: | Smart city is a world phenomenon that outbreaks in the whole world. Bandung as one of the growing city in Indonesia is also affecting with the phenomenon. Ridwan Kamil, current Bandung mayor, wants to develop Bandung by creating Bandung smart city project which is also known as Bandung Juara. A smart city is consisting of six characteristics. These characteristics are smart economy, smart environment, smart mobility, smart living, smart government, and smart people. People is an essential element to realize smart city since all the government works will be pointless if the people are not participating in the project. Bandung government current goal in the project is to realize smart government in Bandung. In order to achieve smart government, Bandung citizens are expected to participate by using social media in reporting city problems actively.
Since the form of citizens’ participation is utilizing technology, the researcher used Technology Readiness Index (TRI) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to determine citizens’ intention to use social media for reporting city problems as participation in Bandung smart city project. In this research, it is hypothesized that components of TRI are significantly related to TAM and components of TAM are significantly related to intention to use. This research is done by giving the questionnaire to 400 Bandung citizens with the age between 15 – 59 years old.
This research found that Bandung government needs to socialize Bandung smart city project directly to reach more elements of citizens since citizens’ knowledge towards Bandung smart city project is pretty low but their knowledge of the smart city, in general, are pretty good. It is also found that not all components of TRI affecting citizens’ technology acceptance and intention to use but all elements of TAM are affecting citizens’ intention to use social media for reporting city problems. The research also found that Bandung citizens have a relatively high intention to use social media for reporting city problems as part of their participation towards Bandung smart city project with score 3.674 out of 5, equals to 73.48% |
