Description
Summary:Chili plays a crucial role in West Java and at the national level. However, the sustainability of chili cultivation faces challenges, particularly in productivity, environmental impact, and the social-institutional aspects of farmers conducting their farming activities. Therefore, an assessment of the status, factors, and sustainability strategies for chili production in West Java is necessary. The research utilizes the Balanced Scorecard framework integrated with FAO SAFA indicators to determine sustainability status. Multivariate PCA analysis is employed to identify key factors influencing farming sustainability, while Foresight Analysis is used to formulate various strategy scenarios. The results of this study indicate that the sustainability status of chili horticulture farming in West Java is approximately 3.2 or "Moderate" in almost all measured sustainability dimensions. PCA analysis reveals that the social dimension has the most significant influence on the sustainability status of chili horticulture farming in West Java, contributing 81% to PC1, followed by the institutional dimension with a 78% contribution to PC2. Based on the Foresight Analysis, several strategies are recommended, focusing on improving Social and Institutional aspects. By implementing these strategies, it is anticipated that the overall sustainability of chili horticulture farming in West Java can be enhanced.
