Description
Summary:This thesis by Fakhrian Maulana examines operational improvements at Indonesian interior design firm PT. Rumah Kreasindo Berkah. Using a case study approach, it investigates causes of project delays and proposes optimized procedures to increase productivity. The research employs Six Sigma's define, measure, analyze, improve, and control (DMAIC) model as an overarching framework. Initial observations and management interviews help define inefficiencies in the production process flow. Using historical data and fishbone diagrams further analyze the root causes of bottlenecks and delays. Potential solutions are weighed using a Solution Selection Matrix with criteria including effectiveness, feasibility, and cost-benefit. Proposed improvements include implementing Design bundle, adopt a cloud base data, and implementing a monitoring system. Revised procedures are developed to incorporate these solutions and streamline the overall production process. A control and monitoring system is also recommended to ensure ongoing efficiency gains. Together, these DMAIC steps aim to shorten project delay and boost productivity. As an in-depth case study, the research is tailored to PT. Rumah Kreasindo Berkah’s specific deficiencies and improvement needs. By blending investigative and analytical methods with a structured framework, the thesis provides actionable and measurable recommendations. It underscores the importance of understanding a firm’s unique circumstantial challenges rather than applying generalized solutions. This work makes several key contributions. It expands the limited scholarly research on interior design operations and demonstrates the value of operations management tools like Six Sigma and fishbone diagrams in this context. For practitioners, it provides a model for assessing and enhancing productivity. Finally, the situational focus highlights the need for business leaders to match process improvements to their organization's distinct needs. In summary, this thesis utilizes a multifaceted methodology grounded in established operations principles. For the under-examined interior design sector, it provides researchers with a template for analyzing efficiency gaps. The customized focus also gives business leaders a roadmap for boosting productivity by targeting process improvements specific to their operational landscape.
