The study reveals how batik wastra is perceived not just as a mere fashion element, but as a vessel for expressing cultural identity and profound symbolism. Living in the digital and social media era, Generation Z shows a unique tendency in incorporating batik wastra into their everyday fashion choices. They are not only following the latest fashion trends but are also experimenting with blending batik wastra with various modern fashion elements. This indicates that batik wastra serves not just as clothing, but also as a medium for self-expression and cultural identity. Each piece of batik wastra has its own uniqueness, whether in color, pattern, or material. Furthermore, batik wastra contains diverse elements of symbols and meanings, reflecting the richness of Indonesian culture and tradition. The understanding of these aspects by Generation Z is crucial, especially in the context of cultural preservation and heritage. The Remaja Nusantara Community, established in 2020, has initiated efforts to preserve batik wastra among Generation Z. Through various activities and campaigns, this community strives to raise awareness and understanding of batik wastra, particularly among the youth. They aim to introduce wastra not just as a fashion element but as an integral part of Indonesian cultural heritage. This research employs ethnographic qualitative methods, focusing on in-depth interviews and participatory observations of activities and interactions within the Remaja Nusantara Community. This approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of batik wastra usage among Generation Z, as well as their perceptions and knowledge of Indonesian wastra. The study reveals that Generation Z in Jakarta has a high interest in batik wastra, not only from an aesthetic standpoint but also as part of their cultural and identity expression. The goal of this research is to identify and analyze the aesthetic values that drive Generation Z's interest in Wastra as a fashion element. Additionally, the research aims to understand the perception and knowledge of Generation Z in Jakarta regarding Indonesian Wastra and to measure the effectiveness of the Remaja iv Nusantara Community's campaigns in enhancing Generation Z's understanding of Wastra. Findings indicate a significant inclination among Generation Z to integrate Wastra into their fashion choices, driven by aesthetic appeal and cultural resonance. The Remaja Nusantara Community plays a crucial role in this trend, promoting Wastra through educational campaigns and events that combine traditional values with contemporary fashion sensibilities. However, gaps in deep cultural understanding and accessibility for a broader segment of Generation Z have been identified, indicating areas for improvement in the future. Overall, this thesis contributes to the discourse on the dynamics of cultural fashion interests and the aspirations of a new generation. text
