INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/80707 This research is centered addressing the significant challenges of the Hannekam Tunnel, a critical mining infrastructure in PT. Freeport Indonesia's (PTFI) operations within the Grasberg minerals district in Papua, Indonesia. This study gains relevance against the backdrop of the rising global demand for copper, driven by the surge in electric vehicles and renewable energy industries, underscoring the significance of copper as the "metal of electrification." Ensuring the efficient and sustainable operation of critical mining infrastructures. Employing a blend of qualitative and quantitative methods, the research uses CostBenefit Analysis (CBA) for assessing the economic viability of ground support alternatives, considering construction, maintenance, and potential operational disruptions. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) provides a decision-making framework, prioritizing methods based on safety, economic feasibility, and sustainability. The study addresses the tunnel's deteriorating condition, aiming for stability until at least 2041 through expert insights, site inspections, and geological mapping, focusing on sustainable mining practices. The research concludes with the AHP identifying Types D as optimal ground supports, with Type D preferred for its economic and operational benefits, marked by a 27.3% global priority score. This choice underscores a cost-effective and efficient solution, meeting safety standards, integrating shotcrete, shotcrete arches, bolts, and wire mesh to ensure dependable tunnel support in favorable rock conditions. The Delphi method's consensus on Type D and CBA's financial validation underscore its economic advantages, with lower upfront and ongoing costs. Type D's selection reflects a comprehensive evaluation of technical challenges, economic implications, and long-term needs, emphasizing continuous geotechnical monitoring, cost reduction, productivity maintenance, and system robustness for future operational demands. The decision-making process, enriched by diverse expertise, exemplifies thorough evaluation, economic foresight, and strategic planning, ensuring the Hannekam Tunnel's role in the global copper supply chain. text |

This research is centered addressing the significant challenges of the Hannekam Tunnel, a critical mining infrastructure in PT.
