Skale Up Business as a business consultant for SMEs requires to develop framework for assessing the current performance of potential clients. They are most likely do not realize what factors that drives their growth and scaling performances.
This study compares the prior researches toward SMEs scaling indicators and performance measurement systems (PMS). It also applies quantitative method, particularly using analytical hierarchy process (AHP) for weighting indicator that influence SMEs growth the most. It results, the OECD study regarding SMEs scalers has the comprehensive indicators which are financial, human capital and workforce composition, productivity, innovation, global market and age of company. The importance rank from the most until the least is innovation (21.6%), productivity (20.7%), financial (19.9%), human capital and workforce composition (14.0%), global market (13.2%) and age of company (10.1%).
The assessing framework is developed by adopting the IE matrix which is weighting the score of each indicator. The range score lies from 0 to 4 based on the trendline performance of three consecutive years. The result shall be mapping out the SMEs scaling positions based on employment scaling and sales turnover scaling. The validation tests are implied to three SMEs which focus on services industry. It results, Klinik Pratama Kita and Kopi Dewa as disruptive innovator and Bina Mutu Bangsa as more-of-the-same-scaler.
