Summary: | The burgeoning phenomenon of street vending has garnered significant government attention,
emerging as a pressing issue in densely populated metropolises like Bandung. With 22,003
registered street vendors under the auspices of the Department of Cooperatives, Micro, Small
and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Bandung serves as a microcosm of this growing trend. This
research delves into a critical factor influencing food safety regulations: cleanliness and
sanitation, particularly during utensil washing. This activity holds immense importance as it
directly impacts customer perception and patronage. However, limited facilities often compel
street vendors to adopt inadequate utensil washing practices, compromising hygiene
standards. Furthermore, the improper disposal of leftover food and washwater into gutters
exacerbates environmental pollution and flooding.
To address these challenges, this research aims to design a user-friendly and compact product
specifically tailored to the needs of street vendors for utensil washing. The goal is to promote
efficiency, comfort, and sustainability in their operations. The research methodology will
employ a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing field observations, vendor interviews,
literature reviews, and existing solutions.
The designed cutlery washing facility will be equipped with features and components
meticulously adapted to the specific conditions, behaviors, and utensil washing habits of street
vendors. Additionally, a water filtration system will be incorporated to process and potentially
reuse wastewater, minimizing environmental impact.
