Description
Summary:Onmyoji is a person or group of people who practice onmyodo. Abe no Seimei is a major figure in the history of onmyodo, mentioned in many historical accounts of onmyodo. He is known to have special powers and great achievements. In this research, the author used primary and secondary data collection methods. In primary data collection, the author explores the material and object of illustration. In secondary data, the author conducted a literature review that discusses Abe no Seimei, several adaptations that use Abe no Seimei as the focus, and silk painting techniques. The emergence of onmyodo in the field of religion and kakejiku in the field of art in Japan indicates the influence of Chinese culture that entered through the silk route, resulting in the acculturation of Japanese and Chinese culture in the fields of art, religion, and trade. One of the results of trade is the high use of silk materials among the nobility, both for clothing and artwork. So the selection of silk painting technique and silk fabric material is very suitable to be used in making kakejiku works.
