The capability of bentonite from Aceh to absorb Ag+ ion and Cu2+ ion has been investigated. This study has been done in several stage, to find its physical and chemical properties. The physical properties of Acehs bentonite include its density, pore volume, swelling index and surface area. Chemical composition of the sample has been analyzed by X-ray tluoresence (XRF), mineralogical composition by X-ray diffraction (XRD), meanwhile its water continent and lost of ignition (LOI) has been studied gravimetrically. In this research the surface activity of natural and activated bentonite has been characterized to the Agg and Cu2+ ion. The results showed that the capacity of activated bentonite better than natural bentonite especially to the Cu2+ ion. |
