Summary: | Efficiency of drilling operations in the petroleum industry is essential to reduce drilling costs and time. In this study, an analysis of the influence of drill bit rotational speed (RPM) and drill bit weight (WOB) on the penetration rate (Rate of Penetration or ROP) is carried out in order to optimize drill bit performance based on drill-off test data. Data from two drill-off test sessions were analyzed using regression to determine the relationship between RPM, WOB, and ROP to obtain the optimum combination of drilling parameters. The analysis results show a significant relationship between RPM and WOB parameters on ROP. The optimization carried out is by choosing a combination of RPM and WOB to obtain the most efficient ROP based on the drill-off test that has been carried out. This paper provides an understanding of the influence of drilling parameters of RPM and WOB on ROP and optimization strategies that can be applied in the field. |
