Description
Summary:The warehouse is an important part of the supply chain system because it plays an important role in ensuring the smooth operation of an item. Good warehouse management will help in improving the performance of a company. PT XYZ is a digital infrastructure company that provides various types of services including broadband internet, data centers, and cloud services. The finished goods warehouse at PT XYZ functions to store various types of finished goods in the form of installation device materials to support its business services. The main activities in the finished goods warehouse consist of warehouse inbound activities and warehouse outbound activities. Warehouse inbound activities include the process of receiving goods, placing goods, and storing goods. While warehouse outbound activities include the process of picking goods, packaging goods, and shipping goods. In this study, several problems were found, including the process of checking goods still using manual methods, the absence of a system that helps in the process of storing goods into racking related to where the location of the goods will be stored, making the process of retrieving goods take a long time. This research aims to design a warehousing operational information system. Where this research begins with mapping the current warehousing conditions using a cross functional diagram, from the results of the mapping an improvement analysis is carried out using streamlining analysis from the business process improvement method and using benchmarking. The results of the improvement analysis carried out obtained improvements in the form of warehousing information system design to help the problems that occur currently in the PT XYZ finished goods warehouse. As for designing a warehousing iv operational information system using the reference model from Zhang, et al (2022) and adding an approach from the framework for the application of systems thinking methodology assisted by integrating the use of information technology in the form of barcodes. This technology was chosen based on the needs of the user which were adjusted to the needs in the warehouse. The result of this research is a prototype of a warehousing information system that produces two modules, namely the receiving module and the shipping module. The design of this warehousing operational information system has gone through verification and validation stages as well as trials. The improvement of the warehousing operational process resulted in a reduction in working time from warehousing operational activities which initially before the improvement was 510 minutes, after the improvement through streamlining to 280 minutes. In this study, a business process simulation was conducted using BPMN Simulation to help validate the performance both before and after the improvement. The business process simulation in this study consists of the As Is Business Process model and the To Be Business Process model which are run with certain scenarios. The simulation is run on the warehousing operational process, the result of the completion time is not much different from the working time before and after improvement through streamlining.
