Description
Summary:National pride is a sense of pride and love for the nation, essential for development and a better future. However, the influence of foreign cultures often erases the identity of Indonesian youth, reducing their creativity and motivation to advance the nation. One significant historical period that shaped Indonesia is the era of the Srivijaya kingdom, known as one of the strongest maritime kingdoms in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, many young people are unaware of or do not remember this kingdom. Contemporary media such as animation can help youth better understand and appreciate culture and history compared to conventional media like textbooks. Therefore, the author decided to develop a visual development project for 2D animation about the Srivijaya kingdom for teenagers aged 12-15. The purpose of this design is to enhance knowledge and appreciation of Srivijaya by visualizing its maritime strengths, particularly its alliance with pirates. Research was conducted through interviews, questionnaires, and literature studies. The results show that this visual development aligns with the preferences of teenagers and can be implemented in a historical action-adventure 2D animated film, providing a new way to appreciate the nation's history and culture.
