Summary: | This research aims to design business process improvements and management information
systems for material inventory at PT X, a company in the information technology and
internet sector. The background of this study is based on the company's need to enhance
operational efficiency and address suboptimal inventory management issues, such as
limitations in recording, tracking, and managing inventory that often result in inaccurate
data and improper decision-making.
In this study, the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) method is used to
design business procedures. The design begins with the define phase using SIPOC tools. The
measure phase involves observations, interviews, and literature studies to refine the mapped
SIPOC. The analyze phase includes mapping current business processes, gap analysis, and
analysis using ISO 9001:2015 to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the current business
processes, with the SCOR Model as the basis. The control phase will be implemented after
the design is executed according to the implementation plan. Meanwhile, the FAST
(Framework for the Application of Systems Thinking) method is utilized to develop an
effective information system through stages of defining scope, problem analysis,
requirements analysis, process modeling, data modeling, and user interface design.
The business process improvement results indicate the need for an additional business
process actor and five areas of improvement in the business process. The information system
design results in the process modeling, data modeling, and user interface design have met
both functional and non-functional requirements. By using the results of this research, the
implementation plan of the design will be facilitated by a comprehensive understanding of
process and data relationships. The implementation of this system design is intended to
enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and corporate decision-making. Moreover,
this system is designed to help the company integrate business processes, increase
transparency, and ensure compliance with international quality standards.
