Description
Summary:Rhenus Logistics Indonesia is the local branch of the German freight forwarding company with a global offering of logistics services. Recent supply chain disruptions on crucial waterways westbound of Indonesia have led to a shift towards airfreight, particularly for time-sensitive cargo. Rhenus In- donesia’s airfreight market share falls short of the company’s benchmark, necessitating an airfreight service product. This thesis combines quantitative insights from trade route analysis on commodity volumes between Indonesia and its trading partners, with qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews with company experts and customers. An analytical hierarchy process and quality func- tion deployment analysis were employed to identify critical metrics for the airfreight service product. The analysis revealed that the service product should primarily target medium-sized accounts in the Hightech, Mobility and Transportation, Life-Science and Healthcare, and Fashion and Textiles verti- cals. The focus should be on Tier 1 suppliers dealing with intermediate goods, utilizing established trade routes to Frankfurt and Amsterdam to serve Northern and Central Europe effectively. The service must prioritize customer requirements such as reliability, price, speed, flexibility, and fre- quency. Additionally, enhancing consolidation services and implementing dynamic pricing models will strengthen Rhenus Indonesia’s competitive position. The proposed airfreight service product aims to address the current market gaps and align with customer expectations, thereby improving Rhenus Indonesia’s market share and overall performance in the airfreight sector.
