Pertamina RU V, supplying 26% of Indonesia’s fuel needs, recognizes the importance of turnaround project efficiency. With four unplanned shutdowns between 2015-2017 and a 115% surge in turnaround budget requirements in 2020, there is ample room for improvement in turnaround project management at this unit. This study aims to provide recommendations and applications for effective turnaround project management by analyzing the root causes of issues using Ishikawa diagrams on post-turnaround report documentation at RU V. Employing the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and the Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART), the study identifies critical factors for turnaround project success, including project performance, planning, team, development, stakeholders, delivery, measurements, and uncertainty.
