This shift has led to a spatial mismatch where residential areas cannot accommodate daily activities, forcing residents to commute to other areas. Additionally, the varying degrees and patterns of development across Greater Bandung encourage functional spatial interactions between regions, particularly through commuter flows. These large commuter movements can create multidimensional problems within the regional space, necessitating a comprehensive approach through spatial structure intervention. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach, consisting of two stages of analysis to explore the relationship between metropolitan spatial structure and commutation patterns. The first stage focused on identifying the characteristics of the Greater Bandung Metropolitan spatial structure through spatial analysis, assessing the existing spatial organization. The second stage aimed to analyze commutation patterns influenced by the spatial structure using spatial analysis and descriptive statistics. The findings reveal that the spatial structure of Metropolitan Bandung Raya has undergone deconcentration towards peripheral areas, though the core city remains dominant. This spatial arrangement results in most commuter flows moving from regency areas to urban centers, with the highest outbound flows originating from Bandung Regency and the highest inbound flows directed towards Bandung City. The central hub of commuter activity is primarily located in the PPK Alun-alun area, encompassing the districts of Sumur Bandung, Lengkong, Regol, Astana Anyar, Andir, and Cicendo. text |
