IDENTIFICATION OF HOUSEHOLD PARTICIPATION IN MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION OF URBAN HEAT ISLAND PHENOMENON IN BEKASI CITY
The increase in global temperature reaches 0.20 Celsius every decade. Heat waves are more intense in urban areas than in rural areas as an effect of urban heat island (UHI). Urbanization causes increased changes in land cover, increased vehicle amount, increased use of electricity and water, and...

Heat waves are more intense in urban areas than in rural areas as an effect of urban heat island (UHI). Urbanization causes increased changes in land cover, increased vehicle amount, increased use of electricity and water, and increased waste amount. These factors will affect the heating of the city's surface temperature. Bekasi City is a satellite city of the Capital City of DKI Jakarta Jakarta is transforming into a residential area for urbanites. Therefore, this study aims to identify household participation in Bekasi City in mitigating and adapting to the urban heat island phenomenon and its relationship to socio-economic factors that influence it. Primary data collection through questionnaires and secondary data collection through journals, books, popular media, and websites. The analysis method used is descriptive statistics and Rasch model analysis. The results of this study are maladaptation and the level of household mitigation participation is still relatively low, influenced by gender and income factors. The need for public awareness that the UHI solution is a shift to the use of public transportation, wastewater management in IPAL, and the application of recycling principles applied to various household consumption patterns. The ongoing UHI requires strategic planning at the city level to achieve urban cooling goals. text |
