Summary: | Haryadi Suadi and Rastika are Cirebon-based visual artists who are trying to
revitalize reverse glass paintings, which had declined in popularity between the late
1990s and the early 2010s due to the lack of public efforts on appreciating and
preserving reverse glass paintings. Efforts to revitalize reverse glass paintings aim
to revive the popularity of reverse glass paintings, as well as regenerating public
enthusiasm on studying, appreciating and preserving reverse glass paintings. This
then became the background for holding the glass painting exhibition "Cerita
Kaca" as a form of effort to revitalize reverse glass paintings. As figures of
inspiration and innovators in the development of Indonesian reverse glass
paintings, Haryadi Suadi and Rastika developed new knowledge and skills in
reverse glass painting, one of which is in terms of the visual composition of reverse
glass paintings, which is the main focus of this research. This final project discusses
Haryadi Suadi and Rastika's reverse glass paintings in the "Cerita Kaca" exhibition
which carries the concept of narrative painting, because in this final project will be
examined in depth the characteristics of the visual composition of Haryadi Suadi
and Rastika's reverse glass paintings as well as finding its interpretation based on
the reading of its visual composition. This research is a qualitative-descriptive
research with interdisciplinary approach which is cultural anthropology. Data
sources for this final project research were obtained through interviews, literature
studies, and observations. This research aims to understand in more depth the
unique characteristics of Haryadi Suadi and Rastika’s reverse glass paintings
through the reading of its visual composition and its interpretations. Based on the
results of the analysis in this research, it can be concluded that Haryadi Suadi and
Rastika’s reverse glass paintings have similarities in visualization and
interpretation, but on the one hand, Haryadi Suadi and Rastika’s reverse glass
paintings also have differences on visualization and interpretation. |
