The power transformer is the main component in the electric power system which functions as a voltage converter in the distribution of electrical energy. The core function of a transformer is to carry out the flux generated by electric current. Amorphous is used because it saves energy and can reduce emissions into the air. The current loss is lower, so in Indonesia it has started to be used with amorphous cores. Due to public complaints regarding the noise in amorphous transformers, this has caused fear among the public. The reliability of distribution transformers increases significantly with a well-written test plan, which should include specifications for transformer testing. On newly manufactured distribution transformers, testing is carried out to determine whether the reliability of the distribution transformer meets reliability standards. The test carried out is a core noise test to determine the noise in the amorphous transformer. Testing is carried out at the factory using 2 methods, namely no load test and load loss test. Tests carried out at the factory and measurements in the field showed high noise in the amorphous type transformer. This research is to determine whether the noise that occurs in amorphous transformers is still safe for the environment and society.
