A study has been done around Menjangan Island, Bali Barat National Park, for managing a diving area. The diving zonation will be made as a basic information for assembling management alternatives with the consideration of the ecological aspects, thus the diving area can be used sustainably. <br />

The ecological data of coral reefs was collected by using line intersect transect. Beside that, an interview and questionnaire were spreaded to the people who involved in this island. <br />

From this study, in general the percentage of hard coral cover percentage was declined at three meters depth and at ten meters depth. The average of living cover percentage was found 26,75% with the average hard coral cover about 6,64%. Such condition of the coral reef could be classified as the poor one. The highest degradation was found at the north-west edge of the island. <br />

Based on the ecological data obtained, the profil of coral reefs aroung Menjangan Island have been made description for the area has been made. The profit would be used as a baseline for assembling the Menjangan Islands diving zones that might be useful to develop and manage the ecotourism at Menjangan island. In order to support this, a management recommendation has been made through the use of the SWOT analysis. |
