Summary:Abstract: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) materials have started showing their reliability in strengthening the reinforced concrete structures. These materials are the good choice which are used as external strengthening material in view of their light weight, proof of corrosion, and high strength. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The researches on using the sheet of FRP which is bounded on concrete surface as shear strengthening have been conducted. In this research, the FRP sheet used was made of aramid material, well known as kevlar. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The aim of this study is to review the researches that have been conducted, adding the similar research database for Indonesia, giving the fundamental information on mechanism of shear failure on beam which is strengthened by kevlar sheets, and analyzing the truss analogy approach and modified compression field.
