This 7 m focal length telescope are using pure mechanical system to drive its position. In order to achieve a certain position in equatorial coordinate system, Bamberg telescope consumes relatively long time in set-up. For a daily use, this time consuming activities could become a problem. For this problem, design of automated driving apparatus is a need. By applying automated driving apparatus, set-up time will be shorten and telescope control will be more practical. In this final project, design of automated driving apparatus include driving telescope in two degree of freedom. Based on kinematics principle, static force of driving apparatus calculated. From the calculated maximum static force, the most effective construction of two designs is selected. Then, the suitable component for driving apparatus is selected. Selection of driving apparatus' component, DC servomotor and leadscrew, referred to manufacturer catalog. In telescope workspace's range declination direction is 25o - 120o, torque needed by the telescope system from static force calculation is 1.23 Nm. A suitable actuator with this condition is a product of yaskawa DC servomotor, SGMAH-08A. This actuator can handle torque up to 2.39 Nm. Torque needed in hour angle direction is 1.81 Nm. To fulfill this torque, a same suitable actuator is selected, yaskawa DC servomotor SGMAH-08A. Alternative component choice for automated driving apparatus is satellite antenna driver, one of the suitable choice is TD GEOTRACK 18. This apparatus is capable to drive load up to 120 kgf, which is suitable for telescope operational condition. The conclusion is automated driving apparatus design fulfill the movement criteria. Furthermore, design result is applicable in Bamberg telescope system. text |
