Summary:New amperometric method using I2 as mediator for ascorbic acid analysis on platinum electrode has been developed. This method is based on oxidation of ascorbic acid by I2, resulting in dehydroascorbic acid and I(-). The I(-) ion which is formed then oxidized on platinum electrode. The calibration plot in the concentration range of 0.01 - 8 mM showing good linearity with detection limit of 3.43 x 10(-6) M. Application of this method to analyze ascorbic acid in vitamin C tablet, and healthy drink samples showing good results. On the other hand, analysis accuracy of multivitamine sample is low.
