Description
Summary:This study was conducted to determine the effectivity of probiotics and herbs are mixed into broiler feed to improve feed efficiency and carcass weight of broilers. Probiotics used in this study contains cellulolytic and proteolytic bacteria consisting of Enterobacteria, Bacillus spp., Cellulomonas spp. and Actinomyces spp. Herbs used in this study containing meniran, turmeric, ginger, sambiloto and temulawak. Twenty male broiler chickens CP-707 strain were randomized into four treatment with each treatment had five replications. P0 as a control group without the addition of probiotics and herbs, group P1 with the addition of 0,5% herbs, P2 group with the addition of 0,5% probiotics and group P3 with the addition of 0,5% herbs and 0,5% probiotics. After 35 days of the maintenance period the results obtained P3 group have the highest results of feed efficiency and carcass weight compared with the other groups, with the results of the average of feed efficiency each P0, P1, P2 and P3 are 49,23%, 50,52%, 54,30% and 56,84%, and the average of carcass weight each are 996,00 grams, 1069,20 grams, 1124,00 grams and 1188,80 grams. Probiotics can help digest crude fiber and crude protein with the bacterial content while herbs help stabilize the condition of the broilers so it’s health are well preserved and can produce optimal growth. The result was expected to be a reference in efforts to increase feed efficiency and carcass weight of broilers using probiotics and herbs in broiler feed.
