Description
Summary:The purpose of this research was to know the prevalence of Escherechia coli isolated from meat of horse slaughtered at Tumpang abattoir in Malang district East Java. The samples used in this research were 12 horse meat from three part of mucle which were longisimus dorsii medial (tenderloin) et lateral (sirloin) and abdomen, The Most Probable Number (MPN) was used to calculate the number of E. coli. The results showed that 91,7% horse meat sample at Tumpang abattoir were contaminated with E. coli and tenderloin had the lowest contaminated Escherichia coli than other samples. The average of E. coli contamination on meat of horse slaughtered at Tumpang abattoir was 186 MPN/g.
