EFFECT OF Polygonum minus LEAVES EXTRACT ON HISTOPATHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF MICE (Mus musculus) LIVER INDUCED BY MERCURIC CHLORIDE

The aim of this study was to examined the protective effect of Polygonum minus leaf extract on histopathological changes of the liver induced by mercuric chloride in mice (Mus musculus). Thirty male mice were divided into five groups, six mice each and administered through oral gavage with differ...

Thirty male mice were divided into five groups, six mice each and administered through oral gavage with different treatments for 21 days. The treatments were C– (CMC Na 0.5% solution + aquadest), C+ (CMC Na 0.5% solution + 8 mg/kg bw mercuric chloride), T1, T2, and T3 (200, 400, and 800 mg/kg bw Polygonum minus leaf extract respectively + 8 mg/kg bw mercuric chloride). After treatments, histopathological evaluation was done to calculate the percentage of the lesion using Arsad scoring method. The data was analyzed by Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney Test. The research showed significant different (p < 0.05) among the treatment groups. The conclusion of this research is Polygonum minus leaf extract can protect mice liver from destructive effect of mercuric chloride, and the best dose was 400 mg/kg bw. 2017 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text en http://repository.unair.ac.id/60889/1/ABSTRACT%20KKC%20KK%20KH.%20159.17%20Ans%20e.pdf text en http://repository.unair.ac.id/60889/2/FULLTEXT%20KKC%20KK%20KH.%20159.17%20Ans%20e.pdf RIBBY ANSHARIETA, 061311133158 (2017) EFFECT OF Polygonum minus LEAVES EXTRACT ON HISTOPATHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF MICE (Mus musculus) LIVER INDUCED BY MERCURIC CHLORIDE.
