The difference can be seen from the frequency of the use of linking adverbials in academic articles across disciplines individually. It means that in choosing linking adverbials individually, the writers of academic articles are influenced by the characteristic of academic articles in their disciplines. In contrast, the distribution of linking adverbials (initial position, medial position, and final position of sentences) in academic articles across disciplines is not influenced by the characteristics of academic articles in every discipline.
