Summary: | The study was set up to discover the effect of combination diet using water
spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) silage, high Omega 6 concentrate and mineral lick on
Peranakan Etawa goat carcass commercial cuts according to Standar Nasional
Indonesia (SNI) or Indonesian National Standardization 2008. Goat were
randomly distributed into three treatments following a completely randomized
design. Treatments included were diets with combination of water spinach silage
and commercial concentrate, combination of water spinach silage and high Omega
6 concentrate, and combination of water spinach silage, high Omega 6 concentrate
and mineral lick.
A total of 18 Peranakan Etawa (PE) male goats age 12 months were raised
in single pens for 40 days, slaughtered and each commercial carcass cuts were
weighed. The results show combination diet contain water spinach silage, high
Omega 6 concentrate and mineral lick significantly have better performance in
lean meat, bone, rack, flank and fore shank cuts. Significance difference also
occurred in Longissimus dorsi muscle weight and cut. Compared to carcass
weight significant different appeared in breast percentage. Meat bone ratio, meat
abdominal fat ratio, abdominal fat content, loin, leg, shoulder and breast cut
weighed in this study were not significantly different. |
