Summary: | Parenting pattern is a way for parents to give love and educate their children. Dolly's localization closed in 2014, then how to care for junior and senior high school children in its area was interesting to be studied. The research was carried out in the former Dolly’s localization village in Putat Jaya Village, Sawahan District, Surabaya City. The research used ethnographic methods. The datas collected by observation and in-depth interviews to the parents of middle and high school students, life history methods and documentation. The data was analyzed by theory of learning culture from Margaret Mead. The results show that before Dolly was closed, junior and senior high school children were prohibited to go around in localization area and told to choose a good friendship environment. Since Dolly was closed, there were happen the drug trafficking into settlements, juvenile delinquency occurred, and conflicts between neighbors. Parents apply care that prohibits middle and high school students playing far away from home, limits playing hours, educates children in far-away school, engages all family members to care, instills cultural values, and tells the children to do more positive activities. In their environment, children asked to learn about local cultural values through words and good deeds in daily activities around or outside of the school. While in school the children are asking to obey the rules in school. The changing area in Dolly encouraged the parents to transform their way to take care for junior and senior high school children. |
