Description
Summary:This research was conducted to understand the effect of nanoparticles juwet leaves (Syzygium cumini) extract as adjuvant therapy on histopathological features of mice (Mus musculus) kidney infected by Plasmodium berghei. Thirty six male mice were divided into six groups. C- as negative control group without infection, C+ as positive control infected by 1x105 of Plasmodium berghei in 0,2 ml, C1 as control group administered with chloroquine 25mg/kgBW, C2 administered with conventional juwet leaves extract 600mg/kgBW, T1 administered with nanoparticle juwet leaves extract600mg/kgBW, T2 administered with chloroquine 25mg/kgBW and nanoparticle juwet leaves extract 600mg/kgBW as adjuvant therapy. The data of mice kidney histopathological changes was analyzed using Kruskall Wallis and continued with Mann-Whitney test. Nanoparticles juwet leaves extract was measured by SEM and obtained a particle size of 936-952 nm.The results of statistical analysis showed significant difference (p<0,05) between treatment group for the interstitial inflammation and tubular necrosis examination, but there are no significant difference (p>0,05) between treatment group for the congestion examination. Nanoparticles juwet leaves (Syzygium cumini) extract as adjuvant therapy could reduce the damage of mice kidney histopathologically infected by Plasmodium berghei such as interstitial inflammation and tubular necrosis.
