Summary: | Previous study showed that vanadyl sulphate can effectively lowered blood glucose level in streptozotosin-induce diabetic mice. This study is aimed to reveal the molecular mechanism of vanadyl sulphate in lowering blood glucose level. Diabetic mice were given vanadyl sulphate suspension in CMC-Na once a day for 7 days with the following dosage, 3, 30, 100 mg/kg body weight. On day 28, mice were sacrifice and the muscle, liver, adipose tissue and pancreas were taken. Histochemistry staining with haematoxyllin-eosin and fuchsin aldehyde \>>as conducted to observe changes in sellular structure.Changes in molecular level were observed by immunohystochemistry-approach with insulin, glucose transporter-4 telomerase and apoptosis antibody receptors. Results showed that vanadyl sulphate can imporove the morphology of muscle, liver, adipose and /3-pancreas cells that were damaged in streptozotocin induced diabetes. Muscle cells showed significant increase in diameter and glicogen sorage also increased. Fatty cells in the liver also decrease and damage of fatty cells also decrease. These improvement were in
correlation with the increase in the activity of insulin receptor and glucose transporter-4 caused by vanadyl
sulphate medication |
