HIPONATREMIA SEBAGAI FAKTOR PROGNOSIS KEMATIAN PASIEN MENINGOENSEFALITIS

Hyponatremia is the most common complication of intracranial lesions. Approximately 60.5% hyponatremia occurs in intracranial infection. The mortality rate of patients with severe degree of hyponatremia around 50% and 40% in moderate degree. The study of hyponatremia as a prognostic factor of mortal...

The study of hyponatremia as a prognostic factor of mortality in adult patients with meningoencephalitis in Indonesia has not been done. The objective of this research is to assess hyponatremia as a prognostic factor of mortality in patients with meningoencephalitis. This research used a retrospective cohort study. Data were collected from medical records of patients hospitalized in the department of Neurology at Dr. Sardjito hospital, Yogyakarta. Meningoencephalitis diagnosed by ICD X code G.03 dan G.04. Subjects were divided into 2 groups: 51.3% subjects in the hyponatremia group and 48.7% subjects in the normonatremia as control. Hypothesis testing using Chi-Square test for univariate analysis and multivariate analysis using logistic regression. Number of subjects included were 189 subjects, consisted of 55.6% males and 44.4% women. The number of patients with hyponatremia group are 51.3% and from the control group are 48.7%. Total patients with severe hyponatremia was 5.3%, moderate hyponatremia was 20.6% and mild hyponatremia was 25.4%. Form of univariate analysis hyponatremia had a significant prognostic risk of mortality 2.76 times compared with control (95% CI [Yogyakarta] : Universitas Gadjah Mada 2012 Thesis NonPeerReviewed , FATMAWATI and , dr.
