Description
Summary:This paper examines the demand function for different type of tuna products from Indonesia over period 1991-2010 using Transcendental Logarithmic model. Tuna species is categorized as 4 (four) groups of tuna products with two main types of tuna, yellowfin tuna and skipjack tuna. The result shows that the real expenditure has positive and negative impact on the share of each different tuna products demand. The changing price of tuna products has negative impact on the share of each different tuna products demand. Furthermore, tuna products specified as inelastic goods by own-price elasticity, more substitute goods in cross-price elasticity and normal goods in income elasticity. Based on the policy analysis, the scenario to increase the total sales of tuna products in 5% give negative effect only on fresh or chilled skipjack tuna. Moreover, another scenario to increase the total sales of tuna products in Japan also give effect only on fresh or chilled yellowfin tuna as substitute good in United States.
