ETD One way to prevent the emergence of solid waste into the environment on processing unit of shredded coconut meat by implementing improved working attitude. The aims of this research were to 1) investigate the cause of the emergence of solid waste, 2) offering the alternative solutions that can be applied, 3) inform the benefits of environmental and economics. This research was conducted by measuring the mass of input, output and waste for each unit process and then constructed into a mass balance. The alternative solutions proposed by good housekeeping approach and than analyzed the feasibility of technical, environmental and economics. Based on the research can be seen about the cause of the solid waste is lack of direction received by workers. The alternative solutions that can be applied is to provide sufficient direction to the workers and SOP. The benefit to the environment with the reduction the amount of solid waste that potentially pollute the environment, at 88,24%.
