Summary: | Efforts to meet the maximum service level and prevent stock out often
forced a company to anticipate by increasing inventory levels, on the other side
when the supply is too low, it may result in an opportunity lost. Does the policy in
100% service level fulfillment in the end would really benefit the company? If not,
what is the level of service that should be taken into consideration to determine
the number of the number of units ordered?
In this thesis research, optimal inventory at the distributor level of PT
Erha Medicals (EM) and its 3 clinics namely Kemanggisan Raya (KR),
Metropolitan Mall (MM) and Cikarang (CKR) are to be calculated for 4 selected
products, i.e Erha1 Facial Wash, Eqinon Forte Cream, LA 70 Polypore and Pro
Callus. Product sales report (either from PT EM to the clinic and from the clinic
to the consumer) and the product usage for compounding are analyzed for their
mean value and standard deviation, then with determined overstock cost and
understock cost, optimal cycle service level (CSL*) can be calculated. Based on
CSL* the amount of required supply could be derived.
CSL* calculation result of Erha1 Facial Wash products for PT EM, KR
Clinics, MM and CKR, respectively are 99.30% -99.34%, 99.99%, 99.98% and
99.89%, while Q* are respectively 4334-4709 bottles, 286 -295 bottles, bottle
113-120 and 24-26 bottles.
For Eqinon Forte product which is used as compound raw materials, at
the level of PT EM CSL* calculation result are 96.77% - 96.97% and the Q* as
many as 10950-11940 tubes. For clinical level, since it is difficult to calculate the
cost of inventory shortages for these products, then Q* is calculated using CSL
required of 99.99%. The value of Q* for KR, MM and CKR clinic respectively are
748-769 tubes, 226-234 tubes and 166-172 tubes.
As for LA product of 70 Polypore, the optimal calculations for distributor
level PT EM CSL are 89.31% - 90.19% and the Q* are as many as 81-89 bottles
per week. For the clinic level where the product is also only utlized for
dispensing, through utlizing required CSL 99.99%, Q* for KR and CKR clinic
respectively are obtained as many as 9 bottles and 2 bottles.
For Callus Pro product, CSL* calculation results for PT EM, KR, MM
and CKR clinics, respectively are 91.15% - 92.90%, 99.64% -99.69%, 97.88%
and 97.13% -98.04% -97.53% while the value of Q* tubes are equal to 165-210
tubes, 13-14 tubes, 2 tubes and 2 tubes. |
