Summary: | Mastitis is one of the harmful diseases that reduce milk quality and production. The aim of this study was to determine the active compounds in the noni fruit extract, to measure the levels of phenolic compounds in raw, unripe and mature noni fruit, to investigate the ability of bacterial inhibition from noni fruit extract and commercial teat dipping solution containing 1.25% iodine (commercial A) and benzalkonium chloride 2% (commercial B) , and to compare the results of teat dipping using noni fruit extract and commercial teat dipping solution. This study employed 8 Frisien Holstein Crossed Bred (PFH ) cows, were grouped into control, noni fruit extract group, commercial A group and commercial B group. Each teat from 8 cows were dipped with solutions after milking every day for a month before treatment. After a month of test, samples were tested with California Mastitis Test (CMT), counting of SCC and leucocyte. Data were statistically analysis with One Way Anova, if the results was significant followed by Duncan's test Multiply Range Test (DMRT). There were significant differences (P<0.05) between cows that dipped and undipped. The results showed that the bacterial inhibition noni fruit extract and commercial A was not significantly different (P>0.05), as well as between the CMT test from commercial B and noni fruit extract were not significantly different (P>0.05). Somatic Cell Count and the differential leukocyte count in noni fruit extract, commercial A and commercial B were not significantly different (P>0.05). |
