Description
Summary:Preparation of an iron (III) slow release materials using chitosan and alkaline activated zeolite and evaluation of their release behaviour in the 0.33 M citric acid solution have been done. The composites were prepared by mixing chitosan gel, alkaline activated zeolite, and FeSO4 solution. Then the mixture was dripped into NaOH solution. Composite synthesis was carried out by varying the consentration of NaOH for zeolite activation. The structure of composite was characterized using infrared spectrophotometer and X-Ray diffractometer. The surface morphology of composite was analyzed using SEM and the thermal stabilities were analyzed using TGA. The result of composite, with variation in mixing methode, releasing evaluation didnt show any difference in releasing behaviour, so that the composite made by mixing the zeolite and Fe previously then chitosan (composite C) was selected as the representatif of the other composites. Evaluation of release in the 0.33 M citric acid for composite from consentration variation of NaOH showed that the release order of Fe(III) is the composite C (6 M) > composite C (4 M) > Composite C (2 M) > composite C (0 M) with values of k are 0.021 mg/g
