Summary: | The present study aimed to determine the effect of administration of the
ethanol effect oftea parasite herb (Scurrula atropurpurea) againstphagocytic
macrophage cells of mice infected withstaphylococcus aureus.
In the present study, wereused 15 four-weeks-old mice with the average
weight of 20 grams, which were then divided in to 3 different groupswas
consisted of 5 mice. Group I (KI) was the control group, where each everymice
was infected with 1 x 102Staphylococcus aureus /mLintraperitoneally (IP) at the
first day, then the mice wasgiven 0,05 mL phosphat buffer saline (PBS) per oral
(PO). Group II (KII), each mice was infected by Staphylococcus aureusat the first
day, then the mice wasgiven the extract of tea parasite herb daily with the dose of
0.12 grams/20 grams body weight for a week. Group III (KIII) each mouse was
infected by Staphylococcus aureusat the first day, then was given the extract of
Tea parasite herb daily with the dose of 0.24 grams/ 20 grams of body weight for
aweek. At the end of the study, mice were euthanized and prepared for peritoneal
macrophages. Isolation theperitoneal macrophages were used forbacterial
phagocyticassay in vitro.
The result showed that the tea parasite herbs extract which was given
daily with dose of 0.12 grams/ 20 gram body weight (KII) could enhance the
ability of macrophage cells to phagocyte the bacteria(10.7±2.958
bacteria/macrophage), thedose of 0.24 grams/20 grams (KIII)(12.75±4.375
bacteria/macrophage)and in compared to the control goup (KI)
(10.1±3.463bacteria/macrophage)(P > 0.05).
