Summary: | Leptospirosis is a disease that is widespread throughout the world are
caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira that are pathogens and zoonotic.
Leptospirosis can attack farm animals, wild animals, domestic animals, and
humans. Leptospira attack organs such as the kidneys, liver, lungs, and
reproductive organs. The aims of this research was to determine the profile of
renal functions in bovine leptospirosis in Seyegan, Moyudan, and Minggir
subdistrict, Sleman Regency.
A hundred and fourty seven cattles were used as a sampel. Ten milliliters
blood were collected from the jugular vein using venoject. Serum were separated,
for Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT) conducted in BBalitvet Bogor. The
test is positive if agglutination between antibodies and antigens in serum
leptospira serovar occur in 50% dilution of 1:100 or more. If MAT were
positive, Urease test were done to determine the content of BUN and Jaffe test
were used to determine the content of creatinine. Measurements with the same
number of samples were done on samples that showed negative MAT. This test
were performed in Pramita Laboratory, Yogyakarta
The results of MAT showed that 27 from 147 samples (18,37%) were
positive leptospirosis, all clinically healthy cattles. There were no increase in
BUN levels. A total 7 from 26 samples (19,23%) showed elevated levels of
creatinine. From this research can be concluded that : (1) 18,37% of beef cattles in
Seyegan, Moyudan, and Minggir subdistrict, Sleman Regency were diagnosed
leptospirosis. 2) A total of 19.23% of beef cattles diagnosed with leptospirosis had
elevated levels of creatinine. (3) There were no significant differences in
creatinine levels between cattles were suffering from leptospirosis and cattles
were not suffering from leptospirosis. |
