Summary: | This thesis was focused on studying leadership strategy for performing change
management in the transformation of Del Polytechnics into Del Institute of
Technology (IT Del). The objectives of this study were: (a) Conducting analysis and
evaluation on the leadership strategy of IT Del. (b) Mapping the leadership strategic
plan of IT Del in short term (2014-2015), medium term (2016-2021), and
long term (2022-2047). (c) Giving recommendation to adjusting the change
management and leadership pattern with the current IT Del's condition.
A phenomenological explorative research using qualitative method based on
quantitative data was applied in carrying out this research. The method used by
SWOT, Value Chain, and Five Forces Analysis, with purposive sampling technique.
In order to ensure the reliability of the data, a triangulation model was applied. The
data were collected from field survey at IT Del College, opened and closed
questionnaires, in-depth interview, and FGD. The participants of FDG were those
who were involved in the executive and structural positions in IT Del, as well as the
Del Polytechnics executive boards.
The finding of this study shows that IT Del is in a good and aggressive position
and is benefited from its being strongly supported by external opportunities. The
best strategy to be implemented in this situation is the aggressive growth strategy.
The success of change management could be gained by directing all resources with
commitment and motivation based on the institution�s new vision and mission.
Growth can be realized by expanding service, expanding market, adding the number
of graduates, improving skill and capability of graduates (output and outcome), and
developing new services towards Del as research center. In order to place IT Del in
the prominent universities list, fundamental change is needed which is oriented on
realizing the excellence of relevant science and knowledge with the globalization
issue and community empowerment. Transformation is needed in all units by
respecting Del values. The change covers strategy adjustment, structure, system,
and relations between stakeholders, and quality human resource. |
