Obesity, especially visceral obesity, has been associated with morbidity and mortality through endocrine and mechanical processes. Clinical manifestations are due to the effects of obesity on the cardiovascular,respiratoric, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, immune, and skin systems When there is chronic excessive calorie intake, the body will develop metabolic,cellular,and mechanical adaptations. Central obesity-related disorders has been associated with abnormal metabolic characteristics of insulin resistance. The presence of excess fat in the abdomen out of proportion to total body fat is an independent predictor of morbidityand mortality. BMI and waist circumference is positively correlated with total body adipose tissue, but waist circumference is a better predictor of visceral fat than BMI. Waist circumference is used to determine body fat distribution. An anthropometric measurements which compare between abdominal circumference with body height , known as the waist to height ratio (WHtR ) is known to have a better association with metabolic risk factors. Previous studies demonstrated the role of adiponectin in the pathophysiology of diseases caused by obesity. The association between waist to height ratio with adiponectin still remains unknown . This study aimed to investigate the correlation between WHtRas well as other obesity measurements with adiponectin. A cross sectional study will be conducted on male and female subjects with � 35 years of age. Each recruited subject will undergo a physical examination to assess WHtR, waist circumference and BMI. Serum samples were collected from subjects to obtain the adiponectin, blood glucose levels and lipid profiles. Spearman correlation analysis will be conducted to determine the correlation between adiponectin with each measure of obesity .Theresultswould be considered as significant if p< 0.05 with 95 % CI .
