Description
Summary:The purpose of this research was to find out the harvested timber crops using Forwarder Gang System on clear cutting forest stand. its tools composition in the system and economically to obtain the cost per m3 . The cost was calculated based on the actual, it compared to the planned production. Harvesting timber by using Forwarder Gang method was started by_ felling trees and finished by loading operation. The operation was observed in RAAP area, Riau. The natural forest was harvested by clear cutting system and then converted into HT1 plantation. The data was collected during July to August 1997. The result showed that the tools composition were : 15 chainsaws for cutting, 1 forwarder and 1 skidder for forwarding and skidding, and 2 excavators for prebunching and loading. The total cost of forwarder gang for 210 m3 per day for the actual production was US$ 9.698 per m3, while the total cost of forwarder gang for 390 m3 per day for the planned production was US$ 6.286 per m3.
