Description
Summary:The partial epilepsy is a type of epilepsy which is difficult to diagnose. The prognose for free seizure is lower than the general type, and often to be a refractory. The partial epilepsy needs a good management. The first principle of treatment with oral anti epilepsy is monotherapy. If the monotherapy fails, the polytherapy can be used. The drug of choice for partial epilepsy is carbamazepine. When the carbamazepine can't to be tolerated, the other monotherapy should be use. The vigabatrin as a new anti epilepsy agent is studied and compared with carbamazepine as a monotherapy in partial epilepsy. This metaanalysis study showed that the efficacy of vigabatrin and carbamazepin is not different. The side effect of vigabatrin isn't lower than carbamazepine.
